The Big Spring Area Community Center, previously the Newville Area Community Center (NACC) was established in 1990 and is located at 2 Chestnut Street in Newville, PA. The building has a history dating back to 1948. It was built by the American Legion, Post #421. Memorial Hall, as it was called, was used as a recreation center; convention hall also boasted a six-lane bowling alley downstairs. In 1963 the building was sold to U-Wan-A Wash Frocks Inc. of Newville and was used as a dress factory until 1989 when the Borough of Newville bought the building for $75,000. With the help of hundreds of volunteers the building was transformed into the Newville Area Community Center. Several improvements have been made since 1990 including a complete renovation of the downstairs area.
